There is nothing I love more than a perfectly built sandwich. It’s not as easy as it sounds. You need a perfect balance of texture and flavor. This is why the BLT is such a popular choice in sandwich. Toasted bread, vibrant greens, a delicious slice of tomato and of course that salty, crispy bacon. A classic BLT is usually my go-to sandwich when we are out for those reasons.
Then I got to thinking...
“What if I used this amazing classic sandwich as a base?” The possibilities are really endless. While on vacation (still here, by the way!) I was craving a perfect sandwich. We had bacon from breakfast and my first though was the BLT. But I wanted something more. I was feeling a bit more creative than usual that day. I suppose my continuous PB&J making was leaving me with a need for something a little more “extra”. So here we have it- my Next Level BLT.
First things first- you need a great base. Bread is the base for any amazing sandwich. A great sandwich doesn’t get anymore classic than a great white bread. That is why my go to choice was the New Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse® Hearty White Bread. This thick-sliced Farmhouse Hearty White Bread toasts up beautifully for this sandwich. It’s incredible that the outside crisps up, yet the bread still stays soft. Pepperidge Farm has been making bread for 80 years, so you better believe their bread is one to love! The Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse® Hearty White Bread is full incredible fresh-baked flavor, without any colors or flavors from artificial sources- AND no high fructose corn syrup. So not only is it idea for my delicious grown-up sandwiches, but it is a bread I feel good about feeding my family too!
Now that we have our amazing base, lets discuss what we use to build this bad boy!
I like my lettuce to be on the bottom of my sandwiches, I feel like weight is needed on top of the lettuce to keep it in place. I toast my Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse® Hearty White Bread and spread on my favorite mayo. Then I add beautiful, crisp lettuce. On top of the lettuce I add slices of the most beautiful, fresh tomatoes I can get my hands on. Luckily, I’m in Florida right now and my grandparents grabbed some amazing tomatoes from a local farmer! The next layer consists of amazing, thick cut bacon- cooked perfectly. Not to crispy not too soft. I of course add the avocado nexI round it all out with sprouts. I feel like the earthy taste balances everything out and the texture keeps the rest of the sandwich from sliding around on the tomato! Then simply top it off with the top slice of Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse® Hearty White Bread with a little mayo. If you were really feeling fancy, you could add sliced cucumber, but I like my cucumbers in the form of a pickle on the side!
What is your favorite summertime sandwich? Take it to the next level with the new, soft, fresh from-the-oven taste of Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse® Hearty White Bread!
