As a little girl I spent my days dreaming that I was a princess. I would take adventures through the forest (otherwise known as my bedroom), meet animal friends (my golden retriever) and seek out my prince. After I saw the movie Titanic (when my parents thought I was sleeping on the couch), my prince was usually “Jack”. Little did I know that Jack would never measure up to the wonderful man I met by chance one wonderful night on a layover in Kansas City.
I talk a lot about my children. I talk a lot about my life as a mom. I am now realizing I don’t often talk about the man who made me a wife, a mother- the guy who supports my dreams. The one who stops what he’s doing because I need a photo in an absurd spot or who waits in line with a sassy 5 year old, a 2 year old who skipped his nap and a hungry newborn to get the perfect flower bouquet from the farmers market with me. I’m blessed, y’all.
We both have a thirst for adventure. We’ve been bit by the travel bug at some point or another in our lives- it’s what led me to my job as a Flight Attendant. Before kids, and even after Ada was born, we would pack up and fly anywhere. Ada and Jay actually used fly on flights I was working and come on my long layovers in different cities. These days are a bit different, we take to the road. We take road trips so often that our children are AMAZING little road trippers! I remember when Jay was working night shift he would get home from work around 5 and we would load up my truck and hit the road. He would drive the first 5-6 hours and I would take over. After WORKING ALL NIGHT, y’all! That’s a whole new level of dedication, am I right?
Well, road trips and vacations are exhausting. We usually need a vacation from vacation. If you travel often like we do you know what I mean. Its so difficult sometimes to get back into the swing of things. I have the hardest time focusing once we are home. For me, its not a problem. I stay home with the kids. While that is definitely a job all it’s own, I am responsible for these three little ones. On rough days though, we can hang in our PJs and binge watch Disney movies and read books and eat popcorn. Jay, however, doesn’t have that luxury. He oversees a TON of people at work. Hes crunching numbers, preparing for safety audits, making sure things are running smoothly. He is in meeting after meeting. Now, I’ve obviously never attended one of these meetings but an entire meeting talking about numbers sounds exhausting to me. I wouldn’t be able to focus if I were the slightest bit tired. The solution? BrainGear.
